Rich Pour

Rich Pour

I recently heard an audio reading of the book The Artist Way where the narrator explains that art is not something that is magically created from you. Not good art at least. Rather, it's already floating somewhere in the ether and it's our job to tune in and create.

In this piece, I give credit to God as the One who created the ideas of a painting, and it's our job as His creations to create the physical equivalent of it. Tea takes the form of inspiration, sustenance, love. And tea cups represent a vessel in which Gods gift is poured into. Tea is pouring from above into a teapot which pours into tea cups. To me, the teapot represents my action of painting, and the cups represent my canvas. I don't feel God is painting through me, I think that kind of thinking is arrogant. But I do feel like God came up with the idea and I'm trying to tune in and replicate it as best I could.

So I titled it Rich Pour, to talk about how abundant and good His inspiration is. Praise be to God!
